Promise Land (2003-08-04)

Remember the inmate I mentioned who was very disappointed with the judge's decision of 9 year+ jail time that he gave up seeking? He had earlier started to pray, but wanted to stop because of that. We encouraged him to continue to seek God's will. Well, he got the final ruling. It's 8 years! He told us that, although he is still a non-believer,  he is now praying every night. He feels peaceful. If there is one night that he has not prayed, he does not feel good. What do you think? I think it is the Holy Spirit at work. He is now reading the Bible regularly. He's is currently in Exodus. Let's pray hard that he does reach the promised land.

He told us that he wants to go straight and does not want to go back to the old ways.  He wants his little boy to be proud of him, not ashamed of him. Wow! I have never heard that from him for the past year at all.  This is the same guy who used to say that he would go out and do something "big".  He has two concerns.  He is concerned that he would not be able to find a regular job when he gets out.  He is not sure about following Jesus because he would be restricted.  Sounds like a true seeker to me.  Please continue to pray for him.

Another exciting news. We met a Godly female inmate who has been so much encouragement to us.  She has dedicated her room to be the Lord's room.  She would invite people to come into her room to share and pray.  He has gone around to collect prayer requests. Her list is now 4-page long.  The most amazing thing is to hear other inmates' testimony about her.  One after another, they say that she has been of such helper to them.  You have to understand.  A prison is not a place where people are in the habit of complimenting each other.  Last night, for example, a lady who does not usually come in joined us.  It was apparent that she is not a very trusting person and she does not know the Godly lady much.  Even she said that the Godly lady is very genuine and supportive.  Just the last week, she brought Jesus into 2 persons' life. I think the Godly lady has walked through the scorching desert and reached the promised land.  What do you think?

Bless
