Champions of Unlikely Places (2004-07-31)

The volleys were intensive as I heard the snap of the birdie back and forth.  Both teams fought feverishly for points, and serves were traded without gaining a single point.  I lost track which was our team, and cheers for points well aimed, or saddened by returns missing base line by inches.

We visited 3 units (FA, EA, DA) all ladies units and had over 10 games.  We had Mexican ladies, who're not so strong playing badminton, and our elite team (of open heart...  not badminton skills) swapped players with inmates to even the playing field. We had Asian ladies beating us feverishly, as we struggled to hold our ground with our defenses.

I want to thank each of the volunteers (Gigi, Bosco, Simon, Jackson, Katherine, & Ida) for your gallant efforts for making selfless scarifies on a Saturday evening, with incredible flexibility, biggest of heart, and awesome cheerleaders.  The ladies were very appreciative of our visit, and wished for our return for further events, as we left with weary bones, but content hearts.

I reflect and think about how circumstances have brought us together, to share this event. People are not segregated by walls, geographic location, circumstances or life difficulties, but are joined together in love as one team as children of God.  And that night, in FDC recreation room, we were all champions in His eyes.
